Most contractors sit at one end of that range or the other. Most of what we do falls into one of two shapes. Recurring work runs to a schedule agreed at the start: residential mowing rounds, commercial grounds contracts for schools, education campuses, aged care and strata sites, and seasonal rural work such as slashing and fire hazard reduction. One-off projects are quoted against a defined scope instead: landscaping, retaining walls, turf, excavation, trenching and site preparation. Plenty of clients have both running at once, and where that happens the project work is scheduled around the maintenance visits rather than treated as a separate engagement.
Where the services overlap
The divisions on this page are how the work is described, not how it is actually carried out. Weed control sits inside most maintenance contracts rather than being sold on its own. Rural jobs commonly pair slashing with spraying in a single visit. Landscaping is mostly earthworks until the final week, which is why we run the skid steers and excavators ourselves rather than hiring them in. When you are not sure which service you need, that generally does not matter: the site visit sorts it out.
Where we work
Bathurst and Kelso are the core of it, and most of our recurring work sits inside that area. Beyond it we cover the Central West more broadly, including Orange, Lithgow, Oberon, Blayney, Portland and Wallerawang, with how far we travel depending on the size of the job. A day of acreage slashing justifies a longer drive than a weekly suburban mowing round does, so it is worth asking rather than assuming, particularly for the larger rural work.
How a quote works
Nearly everything is quoted after a site visit. Access, slope, ground conditions and how much material has to come in or go out change the price far more than the area does, and none of it is visible in a photo. For recurring work we look at the site, agree a standard and a frequency, and price against that. For projects we scope the work first, since the difference between a straightforward job and an awkward one is almost always something found on site rather than something described over the phone.
